A Coventry theatre has received a 100,000 boost to its refurbishment fund.
The private donation was given to the city's Belgrade Theatre to help fund a massive redevelopment scheme.
Theatre bosses are hoping to spend 10m on totally upgrading the theatre site.
But 1m of the total has to be raised from private sources.
The latest gift comes from businessman Alex Patrick - the man behind the development of Birmingham Hippodrome's Centre for the Performing Arts.
A spokesman for the Belgrade Theatre said Mr Patrick was a well-known theatre lover and his donation would help get work underway as soon as possible.
