Walkers are being challenged to climb one of the Lake District's 214 peaks to mark the anniversary of some of the most famous guides to the area.
The event is being organised by the Wainwright Society to mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of Alfred Wainwright's famous guides.
It is asking individuals or groups of walkers to go up one of the fells between 14 and 21 May.
Reports written by those who take part will feature in a book.
Chairman of the Wainwright Society and Cumbria Tourist Board, Eric Robson, said: "As Wainwright himself put it, 'A walk in Lakeland is a walk in heaven'.
"We hope the event will not just mark this important anniversary but also encourage more people to come and find out why the fells and mountains of the Lake District have inspired so many people."
Since the guides were first published in May 1955, almost two million copies have been sold.
Registration for the event costs �10 including a �3 donation to the Lake District Tourism and Conservation Partnership, which raises money for footpath repair and other environmental projects.
