Burst pipe causes homes to dry up
Water officials say about 1,200 homes and businesses in Derby are without water due to a burst pipe.

The flooding caused problems for rush hour traffic at the Blue Peter Island following the burst on Harvey Road in Alvaston.

Cars have been unable to cross the island from Allenton Road to head into the city, causing lengthy delays for commuter traffic on Thursday morning.

Severn Trent Water is working on the problem.

Spokeswoman Caroline Hosie said: "We've got guys on site working to re-zone the water so they miss out the bit of broken pipe.

"So, people should be getting their water back to normal later this morning.

"I know it's frustrating, especially first thing in the morning when you can't have your cup of tea, and especially for motorists as well."
