Chatsworth House's 300-year-old cascade has been voted the best water feature in England.
It won praise by gardening experts in a survey for Country Life, to coincide with the opening of two other fountains in the UK.
The cascade has 24 steps of varying drops, so the sound of the water varies as it falls.
The water feature is gravity fed from four lakes above the stately home in Derbyshire.
Country Life described it as "a remarkable feat of engineering by any standards".
The magazine published its survey to mark the opening of the Stanway fountain, in Gloucestershire, and the Princess Diana tribute fountain in London's Hyde Park.
