Workers at a Derbyshire ceramic factory have been told 35 posts will go at the end of the week.
Managers at the 200-year-old Denby Pottery had warned cuts were likely as a result of a fall in retail sales.
The compulsory redundancies account for around 7% of the workforce at the Derby Road site.
Bosses and unions said they had been in talks for several days to minimise the number of jobs being cut and would continue to consult with staff.
The firm employs 700 people at its offices, factories and shops across the UK.
Geoff Bagnall, from the union Unity said: "Our members do have the right to appeal against the decision and those appeals will take place and we will represent our members in that process."
