Devon County Council is trying to recruit more foster parents to give homes to some of the hundreds of children in its care.
As part of Foster Care Fortnight the council is holding a series of information events around the county.
The council says there is an urgent need for at least 50 foster carers to be found in Devon.
There are about 580 children being looked after in the county and about 330 fostering families
Andrea Morris, fostering group manager for Devon, said foster carers play a "vital" role.
"These figures show there's a real need right across the county for more people to become carers," she said.
"Anyone can apply to become a foster carer, and there are many different ways to get involved, it's even possible to foster on a part-time basis."
