Low-cost loans for home revamps
Low-income householders finding it difficult to raise the cash to refurbish their homes are to be given access to low-cost loans.

The loans will target those who cannot borrow at commercial rates of interest.

They will now be able to borrow up to 15,000, which can be used for essential maintenance and improvements.

West Dorset District Council secured funding from the government for the scheme, involving 10 southwest councils and the Wessex Reinvestment Trust.

District council leader Robert Gould said: "The loans are a practical way to help ensure that residents in West Dorset can live in decent homes."

Anyone interested should contact West Dorset District Council's private sector housing team.
