Cellist Julian Lloyd Webber is backing a campaign to save a museum in Cheltenham, dedicated to the life and work of the composer Holst.
Mr Lloyd Webber will make a rare public appearance at a concert in the town on Tuesday evening, where he will play a piece by Holst called Invocation.
The concert at the Town Hall is being held to help raise the �600,000 to preserve the Holst Birthplace Museum.
Gustav Holst, who most famously composed The Planets, was born in 1874.
The museum at 4 Clarence Road has had mixed fortunes in recent years.
It was founded in 1974 by Holst's daughter Imogen but in 1999 it was closed by Cheltenham Borough Council.
Later that same year it was saved and reopened by a charitable trust.
