Faith calendar aims to cut racism
A multi-faith calendar aimed at helping to reduce racism has been launched by Gloucestershire police.

It features a chart marking the holy days and festivals of 12 different religions and gives advice in four languages about reporting race crime.

About 1,000 calendars and 200 mouse mats will be distributed by Cotswolds and Stroud Racial Incidents Group.

Pc Helen Seymour, Racial Incidents Officer, says they are colourful and informative organising aids.

"The design is very eye-catching and highlights the important days of a wide variety of religions - from Christianity to Shinto," she said.

"They also give information about what constitutes a race crime - and how to report a race crime - in Turkish, Cantonese, Bengali and English."

The calendars and mouse mats will be available free of charge at Stroud Police Station, the Stroud District Council offices at Ebley Mill and the Cotswold District Council offices in Trinity Road, Cirencester.
