A new catheter laboratory at Cheltenham General Hospital means 400 extra life-saving angioplasty procedures can be performed in the county each year.
The new 2m lab built alongside an existing cardiac laboratory has already started treating its first patients.
In the procedure a small balloon is inflated in narrowed coronary arteries to open them and restore circulation.
A hospital spokesman said it was "excellent news" for heart patients throughout Gloucestershire.
