Two new gargoyles will be lifted into position on the south aisle wall of Gloucester Cathedral on Monday.
They are part of a new series of 13 gargoyles, carved by the cathedral's master mason, Pascal Mychalysin.
The lion and wolf carvings are two of the series of creatures mentioned in Psalm 148 of the Bible.
A buttress canopy carved by the cathedral's leading mason, David Lamb will be lifted into position at the same time.
The Dean, the Very Revd Nicholas Bury said: "I am delighted to see the work on the south aisle progressing, so that once again the beauty of this side of the cathedral will be restored and available to be seen by all.
"Work on the south aisle will continue, but for now our masons will be mainly concentrating on the north east turret of the north transept which has recently been scaffolded."
