A party has been held at the HQ of the Wildlife & Wetlands Trust to celebrate what would have been Sir Peter Scott's 100th birthday, on Monday. The creator of the Wildlife & Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge in Gloucestershire is recognised as the founding father of modern wildlife conservation. The first centre was opened on the River Severn at Slimbridge in 1946 by Sir Peter, who died in 1989. A spokesman for the trust said Sir Peter was "one of a kind".
