Extra time for ambulance scheme
Ambulance bosses have said they will take more time to consider proposals for a shake-up which could see two West Midlands control centres close down.

The consultation period was due to end on 1 October but this has been extended to the end of November, when a decision will be taken.

Concerns have been raised from staff and the public over plans to shut centres in Shrewsbury and Worcester.

Ambulance chiefs say they want to hear as many views as possible.

More than 100 meetings with the public, staff and politicians have been organised or are due to be held.

The proposals have been put forward by West Midlands Ambulance Service which is looking at closing the call centre and moving the work to Brierley Hill, in the Black Country, or Stafford.
