Actresses bring royalty to plinth

Two Herefordshire actresses have brought royal glamour to the fourth plinth in London's Trafalgar Square.

Syliva Strange and Jean Grange appeared dressed as Queen Victoria and her lady-in-waiting, Lady Charlotte Ponsonby, on the famous 'empty plinth'.

The actors, who have both had breast cancer, were helping raise funds for Hereford's Charles Renton Unit.

The fourth plinth is being occupied 24 hours a day by members of the public for 100 days as part of an art project.

The project, One and Another, was created by artist Antony Gormley.

The actresses, who are in their 60s, have been travelling around the UK re-enacting Queen Victoria and Lady Ponsonby for seven years.

Ahead of her appearance, Ms Strange thanked organisers for the opportunity of taking part in the project.

She said: "We are looking forward to appearing on the plinth in full costume, Queen Victoria on the plynth and her lady in waiting, Lady P at the foot - as it should be!"
