Churches get �650k repairs boost
Six historic churches across the Humber region are to benefit from more than �650,000 for repairs.

St Andrew's Church in Epworth is to receive �134,000, the largest share of the cash, for repairs to its organ chamber, vestry roofs and windows.

Churches in Thornton Curtis, Appleby, Fridaythorpe, Preston and Paull also get a share of the cash.

The grants have been put together by English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

St Andrew's Church, Epworth - �134,000
All Saints Church, Preston - �83,000
St Andrew's Church, Paull - �72,000

Maddy Jago, from English Heritage, said: "These grants will have a major impact, making it possible for much needed repairs to get under way."

English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund have issued grants worth more than �12m to churches in the Yorkshire and Humber region over the past six years.
