Cars stopped in drugs operation
Police have been carrying out road checks in Kent as part of an operation to crack down on Class A drugs.

Officers worked with DVLA, the DSS and customs to carry out checks on roads which allow criminals to travel between north Kent and the Medway towns.

The police said the high-profile presence was to reassure the public that the force was continuing to fight drug dealers operating in Medway.

The road checks were part of the on-going Operation Commando.

Sgt Suiling Chan, from Kent Police, said: "As part of our on-going consolidation plan in relation to Operation Commando, we are carrying out high profile road checks which are aimed to tackle the problem of prospective drug dealers venturing in and out of the Medway towns.

"Operations of this nature also gives us the opportunity to identify known offenders.

"This information can then be sued to disrupt all types of criminal activity."

The operation was carried out between 1800 and 2200 BST on Friday.
