A large wind farm under construction off the Kent coast is generating electricity for the first time.
The turbines on the Kentish Flats started up at the weekend and will eventually provide power to houses in Whitstable, Herne Bay, and Canterbury.
Wind farm builder John Harrison described the 90m high turbines as "powerful, efficient and streamlined - the Ferrari of the turbine world".
It is the first of three wind farms to be built off the Kent coast.
The turbines are located in an area of shallow water 8.5km north of Herne Bay.
Each turbine provides enough electricity to supply 3,500 homes.
Builder Mortens Mitchers said: "This is only the beginning, there are an enormous amount planned so there will be wind farms starting up everywhere, all around the country."
He added: "They're offshore so they're not in anyone's way.
"A few ships may have to make a slight detour but the benefits are enormous."
