Hundreds of scarecrow figures made from wood, straw and dirt are appearing in green open spaces across north Kent this week in the name of public art.
Finnish artist Reijo Kela is behind the creations, known as Hei People.
A total of 640 are being installed at sites in Dartford, Gravesham, Medway and Swale, with clothes for the artwork donated by local residents and Oxfam.
Project manager Paivi Seppala said the artwork had never before been shown outside Finland in such a scale.
Residents are being encouraged to watch out for the arrival of the figures over the coming days and weeks.
The project is a joint initiative between the North Kent Local Authorities Arts Partnership (NKLAAP) and the Arts Council England, South East.
A series of accompanying public events and primary schools educational activities will also take place in the coming months.
