Five friends have kite surfed across the Channel in a bid to break a world record and raise cash for charity.
They crossed from Dungeness, Kent, to Boulogne on Wednesday but have yet to hear whether they have bettered the record of two hours and 30 minutes.
They were fundraising for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. The illness claimed two of group's fathers.
The friends, who have 38 years of kite surfing experience between them, have collected about £6,700 so far.
Before they started, the group said the hardest part of the challenge would be forecasting the weather, but they were also concerned about kit failure and large ships in the middle of the Channel.
Jamie Brakewell said his father who passed away earlier this year had been aware of their challenge.
"He actually put the money up for the rescue boat, he wanted to be involved in some way," he added.
