Supporters of Morecambe's historic theatre, The Victoria Pavilion, have bought the building after almost 20 years of fundraising.
The Friends of the Morecombe Winter Gardens said the group would continue to raise funds for the theatre.
The building, also known as Morecambe Winter Gardens, is a Grade II-listed theatre which opened in 1897, but closed to the public in 1977.
Wayne Hemmingway, of clothing company Red or Dead, is patron of the Friends.
He was born in Morecambe where his father, wrestler Billy Two Rivers, used to perform in the 1960s at The Winter Gardens.
'Invaluable fundraisers'
The son of Eric Morecambe, Gary, has also supported the Friends.
The group said in a statement: "We have formed a new charitable company to buy the building, called 'The Morecambe Winter Gardens Preservation Trust Ltd' whose trustees will have responsibility for the purchase, maintenance, conservation and restoration of the theatre.
"The existing Friends will continue as invaluable fundraisers in the years ahead.
"Eventually, we propose to set up a third charitable company to operate the programme of activities."
