Rape victim's 999 call played to court
A rapist from Leicestershire who was caught when a police operator overheard his attack has been jailed for 12 years.

Mark Branker, 29, from The Lawns in Hinckley raped the woman in March last year after meeting her at a nightclub.

He saw his victim dial 999 on her mobile phone and knocked it from her hand, but he did not realise the call had already connected.

Branker was sentenced on Friday at Leicester Crown Court.

Psychopathic tendencies

The court was told Branker offered the woman a lift home from The Groove nightclub in Hinckley last March.

He then drove her to nearby Burbage Common and forced himself on her.

He pleaded not guilty - insisting she had agreed to have sex with him.

A tape of the woman's 999 call was played to the jury at Leicester Crown Court.

The court was also told psychiatric tests revealed Branker had psychopathic tendencies.
