Crime 'hot spot' improving
Police say there has been a significant reduction in crime in the Beaumont Leys area of Leicester.

The area - covering Mowmacre Hill, Stocking Farm, Anstey Heights and the Stadium estate - has traditionally been a crime hot spot.

However police have revealed encouraging new figures.

They report that since April, robberies and vehicle crime have both fallen by 18%, burglaries in homes are down 8% and burglaries from garages and commercial buildings are down by 2%.

Inspector Jez Leavesley, from the local policing unit, said: "We are achieving tangible results and have seen a significant drop in the number of people becoming victims of crime.

"Beaumont Leys is a young, vibrant and up and coming area that we are quite rightly very proud of.

"We want it to stay that way so our success will not make us complacent."
