Police issue door staff warning
Bouncer
Door staff must now be licensed under new legislation.
Pub and clubs in Leicestershire are being warned they face prosecution if their door supervisors are unlicensed.

Legislation was introduced in October 2004 requiring all door staff to be licensed. Leics Police extended the time-frame to register until 6 January.

Insp Nigel Banks said: "That date has now passed and those pubs and clubs which do not have licensed door staff are now operating illegally.

"We will take firm action against those who remain unlicensed."

The new national legislation was drawn up by the Security Industry Association.

Insp Banks said: "The new legislation is welcomed as a positive step towards improving the management of the night-time economy and creating a safer environment for the public."
