Epilepsy doctor ruling put back
Leicester Royal Infirmary
All the children affected were treated at the LRI
An investigation into the case of a Leicester doctor who wrongly diagnosed hundreds of children with epilepsy has been delayed.

Dr Andrew Holton misdiagnosed over 600 children, prescribing drugs which left some unable to walk or see properly.

The General Medical Council began a hearing in London last month to decide what restrictions to put on him.

The panel's findings should have been made public this week, but now they have been pushed back until September.

It is thought the investigation has been held up because a witness is ill.

Dr Holton was suspended from the Leicester Royal Infirmary in 2001.

He was allowed to retrain and is now working as a specialist at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.
