A project that works with young offenders who face being put behind bars has been given a national award.
The scheme, run by The Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Youth Offending Service, sees volunteers give one-to-one support.
Work includes anger management, peer pressure, bullying, self-esteem and the implications of offending.
The initiative was rated "outstanding" in the Howard League for Penal Reform Community Programme Awards.
The service's Appropriate Adult Scheme, which involves volunteers attending police stations when young people are interviewed by police, was also given an award.
