Parents warned of seat belt risks
Letter
The letter follows a survey of child seat belt useage
A road safety group has sent out a letter headed "Are You Likely To Kill Your Child?" in an attempt to cut the number of deaths on Lincolnshire's roads.

It quotes a survey which shows 50% of children do not wear seatbelts in cars.

The letter was produced by Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership and sent to every parent in the county.

The partnership was set up in 2000 in an attempt to cut the number of deaths on Lincolnshire's roads over a 10-year period.

However, the group has come under fire recently after a rise in the number of deaths in the county.

I'm not likely to kill my children - it is a stupid remark
Richard Caldecott, parent
And the direct nature of the letter has caused offence to one recipient.

Parent Richard Caldecott from Mablethorpe told Radio Lincolnshire said: "I'm not likely to kill my children - it is a stupid remark.

"I think it is in appalling taste and totally unnecessary."

Greville Burgess from the Partnership said: "The police are very active in supporting road safety and the partnership is very active in supporting road safety."
