Stroke unit looks for staff
Nurses who have experience of looking after stroke patients are wanted to work in Lincoln County Hospital's new stroke unit.

The 4.5m building is due to open in April this year and can take more than 20 patients at a time.

There had been worries over recruitment as there is a national shortage of staff qualified for this kind of care.

Despite this the hospital says it will have enough nurses to run the unit, but says is keen to recruit more with relevant experience.

Sister Emily Greeves said: "We are still looking because we are looking for a special sort of person to work with these patients.

"At the moment we can staff a 26 bed ward so that should be okay but we are still looking for people with experience of working with stroke patients."

The unit hopes to address criticisms made in a report from the independent Commission for Health Improvement which pointed to a lack of specialist care for stroke patients in the county.
