The bid has been praised by the Casino Advisory Panel
Hundreds of jobs could be created if a bid to build a casino on the Lincolnshire coast is successful, an authority has said.

East Lindsey District Council has applied for a licence for a casino near Skegness or Mablethorpe, one of 16 smaller venues planned nationally.

However, some residents have expressed concern that the development would encourage gambling.

The government will announce which bids have been successful in December.

The council was one of 31 authorities to be shortlisted for the licence in May.

Officials backing the bid said it would, directly or indirectly, create up to 350 jobs and bring many tourism benefits for the coast.

The application has been praised by the Casino Advisory Panel for its strong regeneration features and community support.
