Interpol has been called in to track down thieves involved in a �2.5m heist of gold and platinum watches.
Police believe the thieves may have cased the Watch Gallery in Chelsea, south-west London, when it had its launch party.
The Lange and Sohne German watches can sell for up to �100,000 each and were kept in a safe. But thieves evaded the security systems on Monday night.
Police will explore links with a crime cartel dubbed the Pink Panther Gang.
Neil Duckworth, owner of the Watch Gallery, said: "It's a nightmare. I don't know whether they had hidden inside when we locked up or they had some other means of access.
"They knew how to get into the safe and cleaned us out."
Last year two members of the Balkans-based so-called Pink Panther Gang were convicted for their role in a �23m diamond heist at Graff's jewellers in Mayfair, London.
