Commuters faced rail disruption

Thousands of commuters faced disruption on London Overground earlier after all services were suspended because of late-running engineering works.

No trains were running between Gospel Oak and Barking, Watford Junction and London Euston, and Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction.

Trains between Richmond and Stratford were also suspended.

A Transport for London (TfL) spokesperson said a full service had been reinstated.

"Over-running Network Rail engineering works led to severe disruption on the London Overground network," she said.

"We would like to apologise to our customers for any disruption Network Rail has caused."

London Overground, which took over the North London line from Silverlink in 2007, provides mainline rail travel for north and east London.
