N-Dubz pair to help rape inquiry

Rappers from pop trio N-Dubz will speak to police as witnesses in a case of an alleged rape, their spokesman has said.

Police want to interview Dappy and Fazer, real names Dino Contostavlos and Richard Rawson, after the incident in Skegness on Saturday last week.

The rape is said to have taken place at Butlins holiday camp, where N-Dubz performed at the Naughty Reunion event.

Junior Edwards, from Islington, north London, 22, has been arrested on suspicion of rape and common assault.

Band spokesman Jonathan Shalit said: "The three members of N-Dubz were 100% not involved.

"The police have confirmed that no-one else is being treated as suspects. Any suggestion otherwise is totally misleading in its inference."

He added: "The police have asked people at the after-show party, including N-Dubz, to voluntarily give witness statements in the next few days, which they of course will willingly do."

'Potential witnesses'

The incident allegedly occurred after Mr Contostavlos and Mr Rawson went back to accommodation at the holiday camp with Mr Edwards and three women in their early 20s from the London area.

Mr Edwards was arrested on Sunday at Skegness police station, Lincolnshire Police said.

He has been released on police bail and is due to return to Skegness police station on 15 February.

A police spokeswoman said: "Three further men from the Camden area of London are being sought as potential witnesses in relation to the allegations."

A spokeswoman for 2wentys, the organisers of the Naughty Reunion event, confirmed they were "assisting the police with their inquiries following an incident that allegedly took place in the early hours of Saturday 14 November at its reunion event in Skegness".

N-Dubz have had six UK hits and were named best UK act at the Mobo awards in September, when they also won the best album prize.
