Barry Carman, 56, from Earlestown, St Helens, Merseyside, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit indecent assault by Leeds Crown Court last month.

Manchester Crown Court heard he ordered the boy along with Eric Groves, 44, of Shifnal, Shropshire, and David Howitt, 67, of Ashby de la Zouch, Leics.

They admitted their offences last month and were each jailed for eight months.

The court heard Carman, who uses a wheelchair, was living in a bail hostel after being driven from his home by a mob who attacked his specially adapted bungalow.

He had to be rescued by police after the 70 strong mob - who read about him in the press - smashed his windows and daubed "Paedo" on his house.

The court was also told no removal firm would go to the house to collect his belongings.

Carman arranged to have sex with the boy after texting pimp Raymond Hawthorne, 40, from Eccles, Greater Manchester, who was jailed last month at Leeds for seven years for running a nationwide paedophile prostitution ring.

The boy had been "groomed" for sex by Nathan Eyre, 38, from Leeds, who sold him to Hawthorne, and was jailed for eight years last month.

Chat lines

Police saved the teenager, who was drugged and given drink, before Carman, retired accountant Howitt and lorry driver Groves could have sex with him.

All three had contacted Hawthorne through gay chat lines.

Jailing Carman, Groves and Howitt, Mr Justice Holland said: " The text messages demonstrate he [Hawthorne] was shrewd, he advertised this boy for sex, which is why you are here.

"Fundamental to this child's ordeal was there were customers available to Hawthorne."

Life bans

He added: "The word has to go out that any dalliance with pimps for under age prostitutes has to mean custodial sentences."

All three were banned for life from working with children or any unsupervised contact with children.

Seven men have now been convicted following the investigation by West Yorkshire Police.
