Police's presents plea to parents
Police in Greater Manchester are calling on parents not to buy their children dangerous or anti-social presents for Christmas.

Top of the police's list of unwanted gifts are off-road bikes, including quad bikes and electric scooters which have led to hundreds of complaints.

Knives, fireworks, alcohol and replica or BB guns are also on the list.

Police said firearms units have often been called in when youths are spotted with imitation weapons.

Ch Supt Caroline Ball, the new Commander at Oldham Police, said: "Presents are traditionally seen as a reward to young people for being good over the preceding year - but in some cases they can be the source of anti-social behaviour.

"By everyone taking their responsibilities seriously, we can all hopefully have a merry Christmas and a safe and peaceful New Year."
