The family of a severely ill woman from Liverpool are travelling to London on Tuesday to argue doctors should continue giving her antibiotics.
Eileen Doran, 32, who is from an Irish travelling family, has the incurable brain disease mitochondrial cytopathy.
Doctors at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery believe she is unaware of her surroundings.
The High Court will decide whether it is reasonable for them to withhold antibiotics if she gets an infection.
Ms Doran's brother died from the same disease two years ago and her sister was killed in a car crash last year.
In an earlier statement, the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery said: "The doctors and nurses feel it is inhumane and unjustifiable to prolong Eileen's suffering further.
"She has an incurable brain disease from which death is the only outcome in the coming weeks or months."
