The Turner Prize is in Liverpool for the Capital of Culture season

Prestigious artworks in the running for the Turner art Prize are being unveiled in Liverpool.

Work by the four artists selected to compete for Britain's most prestigious art award are going on show at Tate Liverpool in the Albert Dock on Friday.

Well-known past winners have included Damien Hirst and Anthony Gormley, who created the Crosby beach statues.

The shortlisted artwork includes cut up traffic cones, plastic light bulbs and an artist in a bear suit.

Nathan Coley, one of the four exhibited artists said: "Although it is a big step to move the prize away from London, I'm excited about a new audience seeing my work."

The launch of the Turner Prize is one of the first events in the city's Capital of Culture programme.
