Winter bug shuts children's ward
The children's ward at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital has been closed following a viral outbreak.

A winter stomach bug - which is contagious and spreads easily - has affected two children on Buxton Ward.

Consultant microbiologist Dr Judith Richards said: "We would urge that no-one should visit the ward unless it is absolutely essential."

Visiting has been restricted to immediate family members only, and to only one parent per patient.

Such infections affect up to 1m people in the UK every year. They cause diarrhoea and vomiting for up to 48 hours, with no long-lasting effects.
