HSBC car insurance firm jobs go

Nearly 50 jobs will be lost in Norfolk after HSBC announced a withdrawal from the motor insurance business.

The 49 posts will go on 1 December at the Norwich office of HSBC Insurance. The company said it would try to redeploy the staff.

Two insurance arms of HSBC decided earlier this year to focus on life insurance and pensions.

They will continue to service 400,000 existing motor insurance clients until their policies are due for renewal.
