A month-long campaign has started in North Yorkshire targeting drivers who use their mobile phones.
Police have teamed up with the county's fire service and local car dealerships to reinforce the message that using a phone can have tragic consequences.
Extra officers will be deployed to specifically target drivers breaking the law in York.
Last year, more than 3,000 drivers were stopped by North Yorkshire Police for using their mobile phones.
Insp John Wilkinson said: "The message needs to get through to motorists that using a mobile when you are driving is illegal for a reason.
"It is extremely dangerous and can have devastating consequences.
