City to get more rush-hour trams
Nottingham tram
Trams are proving more popular than buses on certain routes
Extra trams are to run during the morning and evening rush hours in Nottingham to cope with demand.

NET, the company which operates the service, said it will run trams every five minutes from Monday, rather than the present six or seven minutes.

Helen Goulding, from NET, said the trams are busy and the changes are in response to customer demands.

She said: "There are times when people cannot get on them in the mornings they are that busy."

The tram service has already seen the withdrawal of bus services, with passengers preferring the tram, on routes in the north of the city.

The service will be one-year-old in April.

There are controversial plans to run an extra two lines, but the demolition work needed for this has proved unpopular.
