Council may continue asylum fight
Protester outside proposed site for asylum centre
The centre would become a temporary home to 750 people
A council is to consider whether to continue fighting government plans for an asylum centre.

In October the Court of Appeal ruled in favour of the plans to build a centre to house 750 asylum seekers near Bicester in Oxfordshire.

Cherwell District Council, which is helping the campaign against the centre, is to decide whether to take the case to the House of Lords.

A meeting is being held on Tuesday evening to debate the issue.

Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott over-ruled an independent inquiry when he approved proposals for the centre.

Former Ministry of Defence (MoD) land between Arncott and Piddington is to be used to house 400 single men, 50 single women and 300 family members.
