Freeze continues in Oxfordshire ice and snow

Businesses and schools have continued to be affected by the wintry conditions, but some services have begun to return to normal.

Some schools are now offering a limited service for some students, but more than 200 remain shut.

In Culham the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority is still closed.

The Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust said its hospitals were now open and most services were running as normal, with some exceptions.

It advised patients to check its website or ring the hospitals.

Priority list

Temperatures in Oxfordshire were expected to stay at or below freezing until next week.

On Thursday night temperatures dropped to -10C (14F) in Benson.

Oxfordshire County Council said its gritters were now starting to go off the main routes to try to improve access to more rural communities.

The county is on a priority list to get more grit and salt delivered.

Many rural bus services remain cancelled or are running on revised routes.

Thames Water said it had seen a 50% increase in the number of burst pipes since the cold weather began.
