Bath's troubled spa has been branded a white elephant doomed to close down within years by an expert.
The beleaguered project is already three years overdue and three times over its multi-million pound budget.
Now Duncan Bannatyne, who made his fortune owning health clubs, says the best thing for the council to do is to knock it down.
He believes the only way for the site to make a profit is if it is turned into a multi-storey car park.
"I'm not saying that you should knock it down... but if you want it to make money that's the best way to do it," said Mr Bannatyne.
He said even if the centre opens as planned in April 2006, it will not bring in enough customers and will be forced to close within five years.
If the spa is completed, he says it will "become a museum to stupidity" and urged decision makers to realise "it cannot make a profit and will lose money every single year".
