The president of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), Ken Jones, has been awarded a knighthood in the New Year Honours List.
Mr Jones, who lives in Axbridge, Somerset, was made a knight for services to the police.
Previously Mr Jones received the Queen's Police Medal in 2001 when he was the assistant chief constable for Avon and Somerset Police.
He also worked as the Chief Constable of Sussex Police.

John Westcott, of Glastonbury, for services to young people.
Marjorie June Williams, of Glastonbury, for services to the Burma Star Association in the South West.
