Attack boys 'not questioned yet'

Two young boys who were seriously injured in an attack at a South Yorkshire ravine will not be formally interviewed until they leave hospital.

The boys, aged nine and 11, are still receiving treatment after the incident in Edlington, Doncaster, on Saturday.

The younger boy has undergone a second operation on his arm. The older boy is said to be "stable and improving".

On Tuesday two brothers aged 10 and 11 appeared in court charged with attempted murder over the incident.

The brothers, who are also charged with robbery, were remanded into the care of the local authority and will appear at Doncaster Youth Court again on 14 April.

The younger of the injured boys has given a brief account of what happened to detectives but the other boy has not yet spoken to police.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Neither will be formally interviewed until they leave hospital."
