Village orphans set to visit UK
Children in the village of Kabubbu
More than 400 child orphans live in the Ugandan village
Eleven orphans from a Ugandan village are preparing to come to Sussex to say thank you to their sponsor families.

They live in Kabubbu, north of the capital Kampala, which is home to more than 400 orphans whose parents have died from Aids and other diseases.

The village is sponsored by the Quicken Trust, founded by Geoff and Geraldine Booker, from Hailsham.

Mrs Booker said she hoped their 10-day visit would give the children "a vision of what they can do in Uganda".

Children's shelter

The couple came across the village during a visit to Uganda six years ago when they saw for themselves the poor housing and living conditions faced by the orphans.

Money raised by the trust has helped to build a primary school, a clinic and installed a clean water supply.

The 11 children visiting England arrive in East Sussex next week.

Mrs Booker said: "When they come to somewhere like England that is very well developed, maybe they'll get a vision of what they can do here in Uganda, and that really is our hope, and our dream and our prayer for them."
