Supremes seek star in Eastbourne
The Supremes
The Supremes' line-up has changed a lot since their 1960s heyday
A female singer to emulate soul legend Diana Ross is being sought on Sunday - in the unlikely setting of Eastbourne.

The latest incarnation of The Supremes US singing group is auditioning for a singer to join it on stage.

One hopeful will get her chance at each of the nine venues on the band's UK tour, with the best of the nine joining them for a performance in Las Vegas.

Band member Althea Burkhalter said: "The girl needn't look like Diana Ross but boy she'll have to sing like her."

The Supremes' UK manager Rick Green said: "Girl singers turning up have nothing to lose, who knows where all this could lead?"

Sunday's auditions take place at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre but would-be Supremes had to book their place in advance.
