Postal workers in Stoke-on-Trent have gone on strike over the proposed closure of a depot. The 24-hour action at the mail unit in Leek Road is over plans to close it down and move its operations to a unit in Wolverhampton. The Communication Workers Union said the move would mean no letters being sorted in the local area. Royal Mail has said the move is necessary. The action affects collection services but not deliveries.
