The new Kenyan government is confident of finding the killers

Julie Ward, 28, vanished in the Masai Mara game reserve in 1988. Her killers have never been found.

Her father, John, believes Foreign Office officials and Scotland Yard detectives helped the Kenyan government cover up his daughter's murder.

An investigation into his complaints has now been completed.

A report by Lincolnshire Police into the claims will be delivered to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPPC) within the next few days.

An IPCC spokeswoman said the report had been completed and would soon be with the commissioner overseeing the investigation.

Criminal charges?

She said it was expected the gist of the report would be published within a few months of the findings being studied by the IPPC.

Copies would also be presented to Mr Ward and senior Metropolitan Police officers.

The IPPC will also consider if any police officers should face disciplinary or criminal charges, she added.

Mr Ward, 70, who lives near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, believes the former Kenyan president, Daniel Moi, tried to cover up the murder in order to prevent damage to the tourist industry.

He has complained that Foreign Office and Metropolitan Police, whose detectives travelled to Kenya to help in the investigation, colluded in the cover up.

Miss Ward's burned remains were found in the African bush.
