Latitude's comedy line-up named

Omid Djalili
Omid Djalili will be taking the stage at the Suffolk festival

Comedy names lined-up for this year's Latitude festival have been announced.

British-Iranian comedian Omid Djalili - who recently had a BBC1 sketch show - will be leading events in the comedy arena at the Suffolk arts festival.

Other acts lined up include political activist, stand-up comedian and author Mark Thomas and comedian and challenge taker and author Dave Gorman.

Latitude takes place at Henham Park in Southwold from 17-20 July, showcasing arts and poetry as well as music.

Now in its third year, the festival was created by Mean Fiddler, the firm behind the Reading and Leeds festivals, to emulate the "genteel, less manic feel" of European festivals.

Other comedians announced for the festival include BBC2's Never Mind The Buzzcocks presenter Simon Amstell and team captains Bill Bailey and Phill Jupitus and stand-up comedians Ross Noble and Russell Howard.

Franz Ferdinand will be headlining the music acts on Friday 18 July in the Obelisk arena - others include Elbow, Seasick Steve and Interpol.
