Pair jailed for sex trafficking
Two men have been jailed for trafficking a 24-year-old Polish student to England and forcing her to work as a prostitute.

Stefan Berdufi, 39, a gardener from Redhill, Surrey was sentenced to 10 years in prison at Guildford Crown Court on Monday.

Agim Qosja, 20, a window cleaner from Merstham, was jailed for seven years.

Det Con Lee Pocock said he hoped the sentences would help the student get on with the rest of her life.

'Immense bravery'

Berdufi, an Albanian, was found guilty of two trafficking charges, controlling prostitution for gain, rape, sexual assault and blackmail.

Qosja, originally from Kosovo, was convicted of three counts of rape and one of sexual assault.

He had previously admitted two trafficking charges and controlling prostitution for gain.

The court recommended him for deportation.

Surrey Police said the woman's ordeal ended when she was rescued by officers from an address in Bletchingley.

"This was a very thorough and complex investigation which required extreme sensitivity towards the victim," said Det Con Pocock.

"She displayed immense bravery throughout this traumatic process."
